Engaging with Markus Heinsdorff’s extensive body of work is like a journey around the world: from the rainforests of the Amazon to the megacities of India and China to African villages. The projects presented respond to a range of cultural, social and ecological influences, which the artist approaches with inventiveness and engineering precision. As an extensive archive of his work, the volume brings together art installations, experimental structures, international exhibition projects, and works on nature, climate, water, energy and sustainable building. Sketches, models, photographs, project descriptions and texts document the genesis, development and realisation of the works. The result is a comprehensive overview of an oeuvre at the intersection of art, architecture, science, technology and Sustainable Art.
